The high altar was placed to mark the spot where King Harold died." Behind the abbey ruins, the battlefield. Harold's body was rumored to have later been moved to Waltham Abbey Waltham Abbey, which he patronized during his lifetime. However, no archaeological evidence for his remains has been recovered from Waltham or any other location. |
